The Story Behind PlanBot: AI Daily Planner

By Naitik Baldaniya•Published: 2026-06-03•6 min read

Quick Answer: PlanBot was created by Naitik Baldaniya, founder of PlannextTech, out of frustration with traditional productivity tools. After trying Notion templates, Google Calendar time-blocking, Todoist, TickTick, and the Pomodoro technique, he realized these tools only record tasks — they do not create plans. PlanBot was built to be the AI planner that does the thinking for you.

Every great product starts with a personal frustration. For PlanBot, that frustration was the paradox of productivity tools: the apps designed to save us time were actually wasting it.

As a software developer and student balancing multiple projects, I tried everything. I tried Notion templates, Google Calendar time-blocking, Todoist, TickTick, and the Pomodoro technique.

But I kept running into the same three problems.

The Three Failures of Traditional Productivity

  1. Planning Paralysis: I was spending 30 minutes every morning just trying to organize my tasks, assign priorities, and fit them into a calendar.
  2. Fragility: If a bug took two hours to fix instead of one, my beautifully color-coded Google Calendar was ruined for the rest of the day.
  3. Lack of Accountability: When I didn't check off a box on a to-do app, nothing happened. The app didn't care. There was no friction to failing.

I realized that what I needed wasn't a better digital notebook. I needed an assistant.

The AI Revelation

When advanced Large Language Models became accessible, the solution was obvious. AI could do the heavy lifting of scheduling.

I started coding the first prototype of PlanBot with a simple premise: You provide the goal, the AI provides the plan.

The results were immediate. Instead of staring at a blank to-do list, I would just type: "I have 4 hours today. I need to finish the UI for the login page, review my pull requests, and go to the gym."

Within 3 seconds, the AI gave me an optimized, realistic schedule. My daily planning time went from 30 minutes to 3 seconds.

Adding the Psychology of Gamification

But a good plan isn't enough; you still have to execute it. That's why I integrated gamification.

By adding streaks, XP, and levels, PlanBot tapped into the same dopamine loops that make video games addictive—but redirected that energy toward achieving real-world goals. The introduction of the "Streak Freeze" (a mechanic inspired by Duolingo) ensured that users didn't lose motivation over a single bad day.

The Future

Today, PlanBot is used by students, professionals, and athletes across India and beyond to optimize their days.

We are just getting started. The future of PlanBot involves even deeper AI integration, predictive habit tracking, and proactive scheduling.

We aren't just building a planner. We are building the ultimate productivity engine.

The Problem Stack PlanBot Attacks

FailureWhat HappensPlanBot Answer
Plans die on week 2-3Life interferes, rebuilds skippedAutomatic daily regeneration
Consistency gapBrilliant plans, weak showingStreaks + XP on real blocks
Decision fatigueMorning "what now?" spiralEvening-generated days
Wrong weightingComfort subjects over-exploredWeakness × deadline weighting

From One Student's Pain To A Product

The engineering philosophy grew directly from the failure analysis: if plans die at maintenance, automate maintenance; if motivation dies at invisibility, make progress visible; if consistency dies at decisions, generate tomorrow in advance. Every PlanBot feature traces to one of those three lines - regeneration, streaks, evening-generated plans. Nothing was added because the feature-roadmap industry expected it; several popular features were shipped and removed for violating the three principles.

The Road That Still Runs

The loop continues: models improve in speed and cost, better generation quality lands in every free plan automatically, and the roadmap holds the same definition of success - fewer dropped plans worldwide, measured in completion rate each month. The fifteen-year-old with five abandoned planners remains the north star: PlanBot is meant to be the one that finally makes the sixth stick. The story is short so far; the boring consistency it manufactures for users is writing the rest.
