Why countdowns help
A date far in the future feels harmless. Seeing "74 days" or "11 weekdays left" makes the deadline concrete. It is much easier to decide how much to do each day when you can see the real number of days.
Calendar days or working days?
The total is the number of calendar days. The weekday figure is closer to the time you can actually use, since many people rest or travel at weekends. For an exact working-day count that skips your own weekend and holidays, use the Business Days Calculator.
From countdown to plan
Once you know how many days you have, divide your total workload by that number. The Goal Breakdown Calculator does this with rest days and a buffer built in.
Frequently asked questions
Does the count include today?
No. It counts the number of midnights between today and the target date, so tomorrow is 1 day away and today is 0.
Why show weekdays and weekends separately?
Most people get far less done on weekends or holidays, so the number of weekdays is a more honest picture of the working time you have.
Does it use my time zone?
Yes. It uses the date on your own device, so the count changes at your local midnight.
Can I count days since a past date?
Yes. If the date is in the past, the tool shows how many days have passed.
